Independent Pictures makes factual and factual entertainment programmes and formats. We make prime time television principally for RTE but also for TV3, BBC, and TG4. Established in 1979, Independent Pictures currently employs 13 full time professionals plus 5 – 40 contract personnel at any particular time.
Recent Independent Pictures productions include factual entertainment format The Give Or Take Club for RTE’s Format Farm, in association with Endemol; Taxi, a factual format for RTE; and Ear To The Ground, a long running and multi award winning 16 x 25’ rural affairs series that began its 21st year on RTE in November. Currently in production is Doctor In The House, a factual entertainment health format for TV3, supported by BAI Sound and Vision Fund.

After graduating from Media Arts, Dublin Institute of Technology, Meabh spent a year working as a post-production intern with Fly on the Wall Productions in New York City where she gained knowledge in the post-production workflow of documentaries, feature videos and multimedia projects. Shortly after returning to Ireland she began working as a runner for Independent Pictures/Agtel and has since moved on to work as a production assistant for RTE One's The Give or Take Club and Ear to the Ground.
Editor & Sound Operator
A talented video editor, expert sound recordist and tech-savvy data wrangler, and an expert in digital workflow management for large productions. As well as lead sound recordist on productions for the last 5 years, Tom has worked as assistant editor on many major productions for Independent Pictures including: ICA Bootcamp (RTE2), John Lonergan's Circus (RTE One), The Give or Take Club (RTE One) and Tommy Bowe's Bodycheck (RTE One).
Trevor keeps a close eye on production budgets and makes sure that everything is tracked and accounted for.
Producer & Development Producer
Amy produces factual, lifestyle and entertainment, both location-based and studio programming. She also works extensively developing and devising new programme ideas and formats like new health series, Doctor in the House TV3/BAI and Taxi for RTE. Producer credits include: RTE/Endemol format, The Give or Take Club; sports science doc, Tommy Bowe’s Bodycheck, RTE One; live chat show Craig Doyle Live, RTE2; pop-doc Hello Baby, Bye Bye Body, RTE2; campaigning lifestyle series Dirty Old Towns, RTE One; and one-off documentaries for RTE and BBC Four.
Head of Business Affairs
Vernon is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and is Head of Business Affairs. He has overseen the accounting and reporting of countless projects since joining us in 1997 as well as playing a key strategic role in the business. He has volunteered with a national charity for several years.
Chairman & Founder
John founded sister company, Agtel back in 1979 and his passion to innovate and drive creativity in video and television has never waned. Today, he is bringing communications skills honed over three decades to new digital platforms and inspiring our team to continue to deliver excellence for our valued clients in the ever changing digital world. As a pioneer in the creative industry in Ireland, John has served on the boards of IBEC, ICT Ireland and Screen Training Ireland.
After 30 years, Liam still gets a thrill out of engaging audiences with compelling stories with 500,000 weekly viewers of RTÉ's Ear to the Ground. He is a board member of Screen Producers Ireland, President of the Guild of Agricultural Journalists of Ireland and an active basketball player.
Conor is Managing Director of Independent Pictures and sister company Agtel. Most of his 22 years in the industry have been spent telling stories to RTE, TG4 and BBC audiences, winning the odd award along the way. Recent Executive Producer credits include The Give Or Take Club with Eddie Hobbs; John Lonergan’s Circus; Tommy Bowe’s Bodycheck; MND The inside Track with Colm Murray and the IFTA winning ICA Bootcamp. Conor also led the team behind the RTE television series Bernard Dunne's Bród Club. This programme broke new ground combining television, social media, digital experiences in a truly cross platform campaign to promote the Irish language. Less recent credits include Rip Off Republic and Show Me The Money.
